Elite Broomfield General Dentistry

Healthy Broomfield Smiles Start Here

Our Broomfield general dentistry is vital to maintaining a healthy smile. While many may refer to general dentistry as routine care, at Broomfield Family Dentistry we take our services to the next level. We start with a comprehensive exam to determine your current oral health needs and create a customized treatment plan.

We use technology in a way that supports our dental care and makes it easier to diagnose and treat our patients. Our digital imaging equipment, like our state-of-the-art, high-definition intraoral camera, is an important part of our preventive care, as it allows us to track changes in your oral health and recognize areas of concern before they develop into larger complications. And our iTero scanner takes 3D digital impressions, which means no more goopy, choking impressions for things like Invisalign and crowns.

Our attention to detail and preventive approach to dentistry help keep your smile looking and feeling great.

With our Broomfield general dentistry, whether it’s been a while since your last professional cleaning or you’re in need of protection from wear and tear caused by grinding, we’ve got you covered. With orthodontics for straightening your smile, and oral appliances to treat TMJ and tooth wear, our Broomfield general dentistry at Broomfield Family Dentistry extends beyond the usual exam and cleaning. Even then, our exams are thorough and leave no part of your oral health behind, and our hygienists are skilled at removing the harmful bacteria and debris that can be incredibly damaging to your smile.

We offer general dentistry for your entire family and begin seeing children at age 5. We’re compassionate, caring, and comprehensive, which is exactly what makes our dental care stand out. From our youngest patients to those we’ve been seeing for a while, we’re always ready to deliver the personalized care that makes you smile.

Comprehensive Exams

The beginnings of a healthy smile start with a fully detailed comprehensive exam. We thoroughly evaluate your gums and teeth to ensure everything is working together as it should. Our comprehensive exams include x-rays, oral cancer screenings, and periodontal assessment. Through routine examinations, we’re able to effectively diagnose changes to your oral health and create a customized treatment plan.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer is a very serious disease, and early detection is critical. We perform oral cancer screenings using visual and manual screening techniques for all new patients and at every hygiene appointment. We’ll evaluate your head and neck, and search your gums, cheek, and tongue for any signs of abnormal tissue. Anyone can develop the disease, though certain lifestyle factors can increase your risk, including alcohol and tobacco use. Get screened today – it may be lifesaving!

X-Rays

X-rays are a very important diagnostic tool, as they allow us to see what’s really happening under the surface of your mouth. We use digital, panoramic x-rays which give us a full-scope view of your whole mouth while presenting crystal clear, high-resolution images. Unlike traditional film x-rays, our images appear almost immediately, and they are stored electronically, so they are easy to share, magnify, zoom, and highlight areas of concern. We’ll review your x-rays with you and thoroughly explain everything we see.

We also use a cone-beam to show us a “3D” view of your teeth and bone structure. The cone beam allows us to understand the entire shape of your tooth so we can make customized treatment plans just for you!

Hygiene

Even with great dental hygiene habits, you still need regular professional cleanings from our hygienists. We use ultrasonic scalers to remove debris and bacteria that can cause gum disease and decay in hard to reach areas that brushing and flossing at home may miss. We not only clean the surface of your enamel, but your whole mouth including your gums. We ensure a healthy, sparkling smile for all our patients and are happy to review your current hygiene habits and assist with adjustments to your routine. Get a total clean with a hygiene visit for our skilled hygienists today!

Periodontal Therapy

Adults over the age of 35 lose more of their natural teeth to periodontal disease than from cavities. Gum disease is caused by bacterial plaque, a colorless, sticky film that can harden into harmful tartar if not properly removed. Generally, daily brushing and flossing help gums stay healthy and keep plaque at bay, though some people are still susceptible to gum disease even with the most diligent hygiene routine. We use a diode soft tissue laser, which can remove plaque and debris below the gum line. For patients with moderate to severe gum disease, we may prescribe ARESTIN, a medication which will kill plaque bacteria that causes disease and decay.

Fluoride Treatments

Do your teeth hurt when you eat or drink certain foods? If so, you may be experiencing sensitivity due to exposure of the dentin layer of your tooth. Fluoride restores essential minerals to your teeth, creating a barrier that protects against temperature changes affecting the nerves of your teeth. Children require fluoride to help their teeth develop into strong, healthy teeth. We provide fluoride treatments to children at every visit, and adults can receive extra fluoride as needed. Ask us how fluoride can help eliminate painful sensitivity.

Mouthguards

A beautiful smile needs to be protected, so it can continue to shine for years to come. If you suffer from bruxism, more commonly known as nighttime grinding, ask us about our nightguards. Unconscious grinding causes excess wear and tear on your teeth, degrading the enamel and stressing your joints. Our customized nightguards are comfortable to wear while you sleep, keep your mouth protected, and help you obtain a better night’s rest. Active children can protect their smiles with a sports mouthguard, which keep their developing teeth safe during activity.

Sleep Apnea Treatment

Many patients suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, but since the symptoms are like other medical concerns, it often remains either undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. If you’re feeling sleepy or tired after waking up, you may not be getting enough oxygen while you’re sleeping. When your muscles relax, your airway can collapse and make it more difficult to acquire the right amount of oxygen. We work with patients who have been diagnosed as CPAP intolerant by their physician or sleep clinic and use TheraSnore orthodontic appliances to maintain the correct jaw position while you sleep, opening your airway. If you suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, ask what Dr. Sweeny can do for you.

Emergency Care

No one is ever ready for a dental emergency. Whether it’s a toothache, a broken tooth, or another dental injury that needs immediate attention, we’re here for you. We’ll see you as soon as possible and help you get back to your day quickly and without discomfort. Don’t worry about what to do if something goes wrong with your teeth. Instead, opt for the comfort and care of the team at Broomfield Family Dentistry.

Technology

In our office, we use technology to our advantage, aiding in diagnosing and treating a variety of dental concerns. We’re equipped with a Carivu transilluminator, which is a small, intraoral camera that illuminates cracks and allows you to see what the dentist sees while examining your mouth. Our diode soft tissue laser assists us with a range of procedures, including cold sore and lesion treatment, as well as frenectomies. An alternative to typical scalpel and cutting, soft tissue lasers reduce healing time and are less invasive.

For the most accurate imaging, we also use Pro Max 3D cone beam technology, which displays sophisticated, three-dimensional pictures of your mouth, soft tissue, nerves, and bone all in one scan. At Broomfield Family Dentistry, we want our patients to be informed and a part of the treatment, so we utilize ultra-high definition computer monitors in each operatory to show patients their x-rays and images.

We also utilize the iTero Digital Scanner to create 3D digital impressions for the most accurate and detailed imagery of your teeth, gums, and entire mouth. That means no more goopy, gaggy impression sludge – just clear, incredibly precise imagery that we can transmit directly to the lab.
